William Stebbins journal, 1810.

A journal of a trip from Stratford, Connecticut, to Washington, DC, and back, most likely made by William Stebbins. Stebbins went to DC in search of a teaching position. Unsuccessful, he returned to Stratford. A 1807 Yale graduate, Stebbins is the only member of that class from Stratford. While in the capital, Stebbins met congressmen, the President, and other dignitaries. The journal is preceded by "Note Book containing something of Every Thing compiled from Various Sources, 1815".
